Cavities are a form of tooth decay caused by bacteria that build up and form plaque. So how can you prevent cavities?

1. Brush your teeth before bed
Bacteria multiply more easily in your mouth at night, especially if food particles are left on your teeth. That is why you should never skip brushing before bed. Brush for at least 2 minutes for better results.
2. Cut back on starchy and sugary foods
Starchy foods raise the risk of tartar forming, and even more so when combined with sugary foods. Avoid starchy and sugary foods, especially at night.
3. Drink enough water
Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day can lower your risk of cavities. When you drink enough water, your body produces more saliva. Saliva naturally cleans your teeth and also reduces the acidity in your mouth, which lowers the risk of tooth decay.

4. Use dental floss
Floss at least once a day. It is essential for removing food stuck between your teeth, where it is hard to reach without floss. Food trapped between teeth raises the risk of cavities.
5. Drink less soda
Soda raises the risk of tooth decay because it can weaken and erode your teeth. If you do want a soda, use a straw to reduce the risk of damage.
6. Use mouthwash
Mouthwash contains ingredients that kill bacteria, which reduces the risk of tartar forming.
