Health Insurance Premiums: The Monthly Cost You Must Pay
Health insurance premiums are the amount a policyholder must pay each month. See how premium levels, room class and claim systems affect your choice of plan.
Health insurance premiums are the amount of money the policyholder must pay every month for health insurance. Today, a great many people in Indonesia use this type of coverage. Besides protecting against unexpected health risks, it helps ease the financial burden on customers. The amount reimbursed differs from one insurer to another, depending on the premium and the policy terms. Some insurance companies offer full coverage for childbirth, eye treatment, dental care and outpatient care. Many insurance companies have appeared in Indonesia in recent years, but there is no need to worry: you can choose one based on your needs and the premium you pay.

When you are ready to choose a health insurance plan, first work out what you need. Review your health history and assess your risks to determine which kinds of care you are likely to require. For example, a woman can choose a plan that covers childbirth costs. The premium you pay must also fit your financial situation. The higher the amount, the more the insurer will cover, including the cost of an inpatient room. You can choose a mid-range premium if you do not mind a second-class hospital room. But if you have greater financial means and prefer the comfort of a first-class or VIP room, go for a high premium.
The reimbursement systems used by insurers fall into two types: reimbursement and cashless. Under the first, customers pay the hospital bill themselves, whether for inpatient admission or outpatient care. After treatment ends, they can file a claim with the insurer by submitting the payment receipt and other supporting documents. Under the second, customers only need to present their member card when registering at the hospital, so nothing is paid upfront. Judging by this description, the reimbursement system is somewhat more troublesome. However, its premiums are usually lower and it tends to have more partner hospitals. With insurance, you can have your medical costs repaid by the insurer. You are free to choose any insurance company, but make sure the quality of service matches the health insurance premium you pay.
