Forklift Rental: Know the Types Before You Decide
Forklift rental suits new companies well. Here are the forklift types you should know about before you decide to rent one for your business.
Forklift rental has become a popular way to boost the productivity of a company or an institution. A forklift makes moving goods easier and faster, especially when the items are large and heavy.
Forklift needs differ from one individual or corporation to the next. In other words, a forklift is not always in constant use, so it is far more efficient to rent one only when you really need it. Buying a single unit costs a company or institution a considerable amount of money. A forklift sells for roughly Rp 300 million to Rp 500 million, depending on the type. Renting costs about Rp 2 million to Rp 10 million per shift (8 working hours), which is much easier on the budget.
Forklift rental is a particularly good fit for companies or institutions that are just getting started. When finances are not yet stable and production volumes are still low, renting is the right solution.
Types of Forklifts
Forklifts come in different types. What sets them apart? Here are the types you should know about before you decide to rent.
-
4-Wheel Counterbalance
This type can be used both indoors and outdoors, because it withstands weather well and has a fairly large lifting capacity. However, it needs a lot of space to maneuver, so it is not suitable for warehouses that use racking.
-
3-Wheel Counterbalance
Unlike the 4-wheel counterbalance, which needs a wide space to maneuver, this type has a small turning radius and can work in tight spaces. It can also be used in areas with racking.
The downside is that its lifting capacity is only 2 tons, so it is not suitable for carrying heavy, high-capacity goods or materials.
-
Reach Truck
This type also has a relatively small turning radius, so it can operate in narrow spaces and in areas with racking. Unfortunately, it can only be used indoors, which is a drawback worth considering. On top of that, it must be operated in a room with an epoxy-coated floor so the sensors on the unit are not easily damaged.
We hope this overview of forklift types gives you the information you need before deciding to rent a unit. It should also help you choose the type that fits your needs, in terms of both lifting capacity and maneuverability, so the forklift is not operated incorrectly.
