Samsung: One UI 9

Samsung Indonesia says One UI 9 debuts on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8, then spreads in stages to other Galaxy devices. Samsung's India support page words it as "One UI 9 upgrade with Android 17." On September 16, 2026, Samsung began the official rollout to the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. The Galaxy S26 FE launched with One UI 9 out of the box.

Samsung has not published a single global schedule for other models. Outlets such as Android Authority report that One UI 9 is starting to reach the Galaxy S25, S24, S23, Z Fold7/Flip7, Z Fold6/Flip6, and Galaxy A55, generally in South Korea first. You can check the device list for Indonesia in the Samsung Members app.

vivo and iQOO: OriginOS 7

vivo introduced OriginOS 7 globally in September 2026. The vivo page does not state the Android version; Selular.ID and Beebom report that it is based on Android 17. An example of an official schedule comes from vivo Philippines: the X300 Pro, X300, X300 FE, X300 Ultra, and X Fold5 in October 2026, the X200 series in November, then the V series through February 2027. According to Selular.ID, vivo has not detailed a schedule for models sold in Indonesia.

Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO: HyperOS 4

The official HyperOS site has listed a HyperOS 4 beta schedule in China since August 2026. According to Beebom, the stable Android 17-based version began rolling out in China on October 15, 2026, starting with the Xiaomi 17 series, Redmi K90, and Xiaomi Pad 8. Outside China, HyperOS 4 is still in beta for the Global and EEA variants of several models, such as the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 15 (Notebookcheck). The global stable schedule, including Indonesia, has not been announced.

Infinix and Tecno

Neither brand has announced an Android 17-based version. Infinix is still rolling out XOS 16 (Android 16) to its older phones. The list and status are in our guide to Infinix phones getting the XOS 16 update. According to media reports, Tecno has scheduled HiOS 16 (Android 16) in stages throughout 2026.

How to Check For and Install Android 17

The surest way is to open the update menu on your own phone. If an Android 17-based version has not appeared, the rollout has not reached your model, region, or carrier yet. Google states that update timing varies by device, manufacturer, and carrier.

  1. Check your current version: Settings > About phone > Android version.
  2. Back up your data. According to Google, updates generally do not erase data, but a backup is still recommended.
  3. Charge the battery and connect to Wi-Fi.
  4. Open the update menu: on a Pixel, Settings > System > Software update; on a Samsung, Settings > Software update > Download and install. Other brands use different labels.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions and do not turn off the phone during installation.

Avoid firmware files from unofficial sites, because they may not match your model or may have been modified.

Why It Matters

Android 17 brings privacy and security changes. Google cites temporary access to contacts and location through system pickers, a permission for local network access, and a delay in SMS access to one-time password (OTP) codes for apps that are not the intended recipient. This OTP protection matters if you use your phone for mobile banking and digital wallets.

What to Do Now

  1. Find your phone's brand and model in the status table above.
  2. Make sure earlier updates are installed. Samsung says the update is available only to devices running the latest One UI version.
  3. Free up storage and back up your data, then wait for the official notification.

What to Watch

  • Indonesia schedules for ColorOS 17, OriginOS 7, ColorOS 17 on realme, and global HyperOS 4. This page will be updated when official announcements come out.
  • Infinix and Tecno announcements about an Android 17-based version. None so far.
