- Agents must complete 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
- Effective January 1, 2010 Requirements: All resident Illinois Agents who will renew on or after January 1, 2010 will be required to complete 24 credit hours of continuing education including 3 credit hours of classroom Ethics.

- Agents who sell National flood insurance policies are required to complete a one time Flood Insurance Program. You will receive continuing education credit by completing this course as well as satisfy your FEMA requirement.
- Agents who sell, solicit or negotiate Long Term Care Insurance - must complete a one time 8 hour Illinois specific requirement called "Long Term Care (Partnership)". This course is for compliance periods that begin July 2008. You will al so receive 8 hours of general Continuing Education and satisfy your Insurance carrier requirement.
- Producers who are already and have completed LTC course prior to July 1, 2008 will have one year from July 1, 2008 to complete the new required course. Further, the Producer is required to complete no less than 4 credit hours of Long Term Care for each renewal period.
- 3 hours of Flood required by FEMA. (1 time requirement)

- Every Agent must complete their Continuing Education requirements before their license is renewed every 2 years. (The Department of Insurance recommends that the requirements be completed at least 4 weeks prior to license renewal.)

- Agents are permitted to carry forward a maximum of 45 credit hours to the next compliance period. Education credit hours will be applied in the order the Department receives them.

- Courses may not be taken more than once in a 3-year period.
|
- Continuing education courses may be either self-study or classroom.
|
- If the course taken is self-study the Agent must pass a non-monitored examination.
- If the course taken is a classroom there is no examination.
