Hours
  • Agents must complete 24 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
Requirements
  • 3 hours of Ethics.
  • Agents who sell Federal Flood Insurance Policies must complete a one time 3 hour flood course. You will receive 12 hours of CE by completing CEIS's National Flood Insurance Course and satisfy your FEMA requirement.
  • Effective July 1, 2009, Act 33-12-8a, any Agent who sell, solicit or negotiate Long Term Care Insurance Policies are required to complete a one-time training course of no less than eight hours prior to July 1, 2010. Any newly Licensed Producer, licensed after July 1, 2010, are required to complete ongoing training of no less than four hours in each mandatory Continuing Education biennium subsequent to the biennium in which the one-time training was completed.
Compliance Date
  • The next reporting period is 7-1-2008 thru 6-30-2010.
  • Resident Producers whose original license date is 7-1-2009 or later will have the remainder of the current reporting period and the next full reporting period (7-1-2010 thru 6-30-2012) to comply with Continuing education.
Excess Hours
  • 6 credit hours are permitted to be carried over into a new Compliance Period. The hours carried over will be categorized as CARRY OVER and will not be considered to be either General or Ethics.
Course Repetition
  • Agents must wait 3 years before repeating a course.

Course Presentation

  • Continuing education courses may be either self-study or classroom.
Examination
  • If the course taken is self-study the Agent must pass a Monitored examination. The Monitor must be a disinterested third party; someone who is not employment or family related to the agent.
  • If the course taken is a classroom course, there is no examination.
